WHY NOT TO TRAVEL WITH CANTERBURY TRAVEL LONDON LTD

After hearing tv personalities talking about how great lapland is, reading the web site and related brochures we decided at considerable expense (Ł2300 for a 1 night trip for 2 adults and 1 child) to book our place on this ONCE in a life time dream experience with Canterbury Travel.

To put it lightly we were less than impressed and wrote a letter of complaint within an hour of getting home (even after 2 days with close to no sleep, it really was that bad an experience!). I will leave it up to yourselves to decide if it's worth the gamble. There are plenty of other companies offering similar trips! This is the exact response we received after our request to go to arbitration, ABTA bonding means nothing!.

Dear Mr Barlow,

Please find enclosed a copy of a letter from Azzurra, the airline providing transportation to and from Kittila in connection with your visit to Lapland.

You will be aware that you have, by signing the booking form, accepted that our liability to you where transportation is by air is limited to the conditions of carriage of the airline involved.

The airline have confirmed that the services provided to you met with the conditions of carriage and thereby we have met with our obligation to you.

We do not confirm on board entertainment for these flights and state quite clearly that where possible this service will be provided. We accept the airline did not provide it, but this was not part of our contract with you.

Neither is any specific seating guaranteed nor even mentioned within the offer.

In an ideal world it would have been our aim for the airline undertaking your transportation to have provided a more enjoyable flight for you. On occasions this is not always possible.

You have asked for arbitration details and these may be obtained through the Association of British Travel Agents. Your travel agency should assist you in obtaining these if still required.
